The Prince's Trust: Our Work Placement Story

We are already missing Corey who joined us on a 2 week work placement with The Prince’s Trust this month! It was an amazing opportunity to get more involved with members of our community and teach Corey those all important workplace skills. πŸ™Œ

Transferable Skills:

For those who don’t know, The Prince’s Trust is a UK charitable organisation founded over 4 decades ago by King Charles. They work tirelessly to ensure work opportunities are readily available for vulnerable young people aged 11 to 30 across the nation. These can range from sectors, industries and locations with the all encompassing message being supporting and preparing these individuals for the workplace.

When Corey joined we supported him the best way we could ensuring he went away from this experience with practical and life skills to carry him through in his future. So not only did we teach him skills around what we do – selling vaping products and stop smoking services, but also transferable skills such as:

  • Stock management
  • Customer service and customer journey
  • Housekeeping
  • Filing and organisation

We integrated this with hands on practical skills:

  • Putting up shelving
  • Decorating store front with relevant promotions
  • Visual merchandising

All things that are integral to working within a small to medium sized business as duties are often a whole team effort. We encourage our fellow local businesses to take part in the schemes provided by The Prince’s Trust, more information on how to do so can be found on their official website: https://www.princes-trust.org.uk/support-our-work/how-your-business-can-help
